Acrylic Gallery 1

A collection of my artwork, all painted in acrylics.

Alfred Nobel

Alfred Nobel
This was a painting commission of the Thoroughbred stallion Alfred Nobel. He is such a gorgeous individual and it was a pleasure to capture him in paint.
My client assisted his dam's foaling of him and now owns foals by Alfred Nobel herself. So being able to paint his portrait for her was just sweet.

Chasing the sun

Chasing the sun

I took photos while watching this foal enjoying a good run in the paddock.
It looked like it was chasing its shadow and I just knew I had to paint it.

Ernie
  Ernie

Introducing Ernie ! Ernie's portrait was just such a joy to paint. His eyes had me captured and just look at that fur !
This painting was a wedding gift from my clients to his owners.

Galileo

Galileo

I think a stallion like Galileo needs no introduction in Thoroughbred circles. Sadler's Well's most famous son and a champion sire in his own right.
His portrait was a commission and knowing the stallion is always a help to make it personal.

High Chaparral

High Chaparral

This is a commission piece of one of my favorite Thoroughbred stallions. High Chaparral, the sire of one of Australia's famous racehorses  "So you think" . He is a proud but gentle horse and most certainly one I will never have enough of.

On the prowl

On the Prowl

The intent in those eyes just captured me the second I saw the reference photo I used for this painting. This young lioness was on a mission, there is no doubt. And my mission was to take the photo and recreate it in paint.

Sadler's Wells

         Sadler's Wells

The sire of sires, the stallion who put Irish Thoroughbreds on the world map and changed the life of millions as a byproduct of it. Coolmore would not be what it is without him.
I had the pleasure to meet him multiple times and even in his final years, he was a proud individual, a professional at his job and a true one of a kind.
His portrait was a commission, but it sure was a hard one to let go.

Glen & Mac

Glen & Mac

Those 2 boys where a birthday commission to the husband of my client. Working dogs in beautiful Scotland, pictured in their home setting.
Painting this just made me want to go and visit Scotland some day even more.

Cliffs of Moher
 Cliffs of Moher

What a scenic spot this is. It is very easy to see why this is one of Ireland's most popular tourist destinations. Rising up to over 700 feet (213 meters) and stretching nearly 5 miles (8 km) along the Atlantic coast, the cliffs were formed about 320 million years ago. Standing on the edge of it, you will have never felt more alive. I keep returning to this beauty spot myself as often as I can and would highly recommend it to everyone else too.
This painting was a commission for the clients who already own the Galileo painting.

Fantasy

Fantasy

This painting was inspired by a high spirited Thoroughbred mare I had the pleasure of meeting. What a beauty and full of fire. You could watch her galloping and expect her to take to the air any minute

Rock of Cashel

Rock of Cashel

Another one of Ireland's tourist attractions and very beautiful indeed. According to local mythology, the Rock of Cashel originated in the "Devils Bit, a mountain 20 miles north of Cashel. When St. Patrick banished the devil from a cave, he threw a rock, resulting in it landing in Cashel . Cashel was the home to the king of Munster for many hundred years before being donated to the church. Visit the Rock and feel its history come to life under your feet, look over the walls and take in the beauty.
This was a commission piece too, for somebody who grew up in that area.

Miss Sunshine

Miss Sunshine

I really missed the warm spring sunshine when I painted this in the middle of winter.
The cheerfulness of Daffodil heads, popping up when everything else is still in deep wintersleep, just holds so much promise for me.
I have this framed for my own private pleasure, right beside the front door. It lets me face each day with a smile on my face, no matter the weather outside.
